Basics

Finding a Product

To begin your CompareBay.com shopping experience, first select the product type you want to shop for by clicking on one of the product tabs on the top of the screen. You will now be shown the main page of that product type. This page is your starting point for shopping! To find the perfect product that suits your needs, use CompareBay.com's powerful Search Wizard. There are two ways of bringing up the Search Wizard:

1. You can select a product category from the pulldown menu, enter a keyword (optional) and then click on go to go to the Search Wizard which would display a list of products in your selected category that matches the keyword you specified. If no keyword is specified, then all products from the selected category are displayed.

2. You can click on a product feature link to go directly to the Search Wizard which would display a list of products that contains the feature.

Finding a Seller

CompareBay.com's Compare Wizard lets you compare prices for a product across multiple sellers.

To go to the Compare Wizard, simply click on a product that the Search Wizard returns in the matched products table. The Compare Wizard displays the detailed product information for a product as well as all the sellers of a product.

Search Wizard

The Search Wizard lets you find products that fit your exact requirements. Anytime you choose an option from any pulldown menu, the Search Wizard will automatically search the database and return you a list of products that satisfy the option you just chose. The first set of pulldown menus contain the features of the product category that you chose. The next set of pulldown menus lets you specify the brand of the product. The brand type pulldown menu allows you to filter out clone brands or even filter out non-clone brands. The final set of pulldown menus lets you specify the currency of the product's price, the condition of the product, as well as the price range of the product. To top it off, you can even enter a keyword describing the product and then clicking on search to find all products matching your specified keyword as well as all the other options in the pulldown menus.

Compare Wizard

The Compare Wizard displays the detailed product information of a product, including user reviews, other models from the same brand, and most importantly, the sellers of a product. You can narrow down the list of sellers by using the pulldown menus to specify the type of currency, the condition of the product, and the location of the sellers. Clicking on Bid will allow you to perform price negotiation with the seller. An email will be automatically sent to the seller and you will be contacted if the seller wants to negotiate with you. For sellers that allow the purchase of their products through the Internet, you can click on the Buy Direct link to be taken directly to their website and quickly order the product online. Clicking on a seller in the list of returned sellers will allow you to view detailed seller contact information and seller policies.

Pop Charts

CompareBay.com's Pop Charts are continuously updated according to the number of hits a product or seller may receive. To view our Pop Charts, simply click on Pop Charts in the main page. The Pop Chart screen allows you to select the type of pop chart to view (top products, top brands, top sellers) as well as the product category. For example, to view the top hard drives, simply choose products as your Pop Chart type and hard drives as your product category. Similarly, to view the top monitor sellers, simply choose sellers as your Pop Chart type and monitors are your product category. If you select all categories, then the top products/brands/sellers of all categories of products will be displayed.

Searching Specific Sellers

Clicking on Merchant Directory in the front page will allow you to use the Search Wizard to search for specific sellers. Search criteria which you can specify include seller features such as payment/shipping policies, as well as their physical locations (city, state/province, country).
